Decentralized Marketplaces

Decentralized marketplaces are very new to ecommerce and represent a huge shift from traditional online marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Etsy and others. Rather than being controlled by one central authority, decentralized marketplaces are truly peer-to-peer platforms.

In traditional marketplaces, a central authority can choose to exclude or include sellers and buyers as desired. Powered by new blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies, decentralized marketplaces do not even the ability to restrict access or choose what is sold on the platform.

Currently, OpenBazaar is leading the way in this new style of blockchain ecommerce. There are other projects in the works now and we’ll continue to track new developments on our blog, as well as get hands-on experience on some of the leading platforms.

If you have experience as a buyer or seller on any decentralized marketplaces, or just have a question about any of these new platforms, be sure to leave a comment or get in touch with us.
